A true neighborhood spot, serving large meals for workers at lunch with fantastic pizzas plus other trattoria fare at night.

Directions: Careful! There is another restaurant on Seco Marina with the same name. Check for the 738 building number. Seco Marina is a long straight street beyond and roughly parallel to Via Garibaldi, actually closest to Giardini vaporetto. You get points for finding this place!

We love this place for the adventure in getting there past the laundry hanging overhead and for the neighborhood atmosphere. The 15€ lunch included wine, water, primo, secondo, dessert and maybe coffee. The place fills up with workers at lunch, who eat quickly and are gone again. Pizza is usually unavailable at lunch, but one time it was.

In the evening, pizza(5€ to 8€ each) is the star in my estimation. Arugula/parmesan and Diavola were both excellent with perfect thin, charred crusts. One of the owners is British-born, and one of the young waiters (her son?) was essentially a mind reader to point out that when we ordered a pepperoni pizza, what we probably really wanted was the Diavola, not one topped solely with peppers. They have beer and Guiness on tap, but we have stayed with the house red wine.
