Directions: Exiting off of any of the Rialto vaporetto stops, walk to your right until the street ends. Make the left and find the restaurant down the street on the right. Enoteca Al Volto is literally a two-minute walk from the Rialto vaporetto stop, even though it is tucked away on a quiet street. We happened to walk past it by chance and loved looking in the window and seeing all of the old wine labels affixed to the ceiling with various wine bottles lining the wall. It's a small place and the front part of the restaurant is reserved for people wanting to have a drink and snacks, whereas the back room has 5 tables for diners. The owner told us what the specials were so we never looked at the menu. We had the most delicious pasta with prosciutto and parmesan. Not only was the plate simple and fantastic, but the preparation was a show in and of itself. The owner brought out our plates with the prosciutto already thinly sliced. He also wheeled out a huge parmesan wheel, where he put the hot pasta. The pasta was mixed around in the cheese wheel and then served over the prosciutto. He then scraped out pieces of the cheese to top each plate. It was fun to watch and extremely tasty! One of the people in our party had the black squid-ink pasta, which was also really good. The portions were ample and while we wanted to try a second plate, we were too full from the wine, a few snacks before dinner and the wonderful pasta. The pastas were around 12-15 euros each and we found the entire meal (with a bottle of wine) reasonable. We ended up eating there again on our last night because we loved the prosciutto and parmesan combination so much! Buonissimo!
