Cannaregio: Enoteca La Cantina

Stada Nova, Campo San Felice , Phone: 041.5228258

A pleasant stop any time of the day. Highly recommended.

On Strada Nova we decided it was time for lunch and stopped at Enoteca La Cantina, a café-bar and restaurant in Campo San Felice. They already ran out of tramezzini and we ordered one sandwich and two mixed salads. Probably clued by my disappointment that they are out of tramezzini, we were presented by the waiter with a complimentary platter of chichetti, which went very well with my beer.

The salads arrived after a short while and they were marvelous; the best salads we have had anywhere, and we mean anywhere: a variety of mushrooms fresh and marinated, cabbage, baby arugula, carrots, yellow peppers, tuna, marinated olives, marinated artichokes, lettuce, and all types of cheeses: a smoked cheese I couldn't identify, assiago, bocconcini and a chunk of parmesan. All were arranged tastefully and I got also the cheeses off Josette's plate. All sprinkled by us with olive oil and vinegar and we were in salad heaven and all well worth the €25 for two, which includes the above, plus water, coffees and tip.

In the meantime, the Strada Nova lives in front of you, buskers and musicants stop by.
