A country farm-style restaurant with simple food makes for good dining.

We first ate at this restaurant 5 years ago and thought we'd check it out again. It is a restaurant plus shop that sells its own wines and oils. The terrace has a nice view of Montepulciano.

The best thing there is the pici di Montepulciano - fat spaghetti with a rich meat sauce. The serving is generous enough to have for lunch along with a plate of salamis and crostinis or perhaps some toasted garlic bread (which my kids still rave about). The Pulcino wines are mostly 10-20E with a few more expensive. Primi pastas are about 7E. We went back for dinner one night and also had a bistecca fiorentina which was a bit pricey (46E). Although the waitress asked if we wanted it rare-medium rare as that was how it was cooked (and that's usually ok with us), the meat was still protesting its slaughter on the plate. We had to send it back for a bit more cooking. It was good but not sure if it was worth the price. We had bistecca another time that was 10E cheaper per kilo and better. Other meats, such as sausages, grilled chicken, and pork, were 9-16E.

I'd recommend going for lunch and sticking with simple fare and having a nice daytime view of Montepulciano.
