Parma: Gallo d'Oro

Pay for the food & wine, not attitude...

One of my favorites in Parma. Their risotto primavera is simply heavenly. Not too surprisingly, their specialties are of Parmesan origin. Tortelli di erbetta or fungi (baked in melted butter with sprinkles of grated Parmesan cheese) are to treasured. Don't forget prociutto with melons. It may sound a bit strange to mix pinacle of cured ham with lowly cantalope melon, but the end result is unlike anything most us have tried...unless you happened to have lived in Italy. As for wine...go local. Malvasia is ok but I prefer the semi-sweet, bubbly, red wine (served at slightly below room temperature) to go with my local dishes. It may sound odd but it's local combination that work wonderfully together. Dinner for 2...65 Euro.
