A perfectly peaceful and relaxing setting. Awesome views of the coast and Mt. Etna.

We noticed this "grand hotel" on our way to tour the amphitheatre ruins. We decided to stop in afterwards, and are we glad we did! Lovely, lovely spot to spend an hour (or more) relaxing and enjoying the fantastic views.

We sat on the sunny terrace facing Giardini Naxos and Mt. Etna; we could see the amphitheatre behind us. The white jacket-clad waiter took our order for a bottle of "Murgo" white Etna wine and a bottle of sparkling water. When he returned, he surprised us by placing a large plate (almost a platter!) on the table, filled with raw almonds and hazelnuts, salted peanuts, and incredibly delicious fresh caperberries.

We talked and nibbled and enjoyed the wine, the views of the coastline and Mt. Etna, and the company. Total: €24 for the wine and €6 for the water. (We found a bottle of the exact same wine at a little alimentari later that day for €6.50!) But the Grand Hotel Timeo experience was worth every euro cent ...
