Delightful, friendly restaurant with delicious local cuisine and an excellent wine list.

Directions: On a side street just off the Pizza dell'Duomo

Another delightful discovery for the three of us on our October, 2007 trip.

The meal began with platters of delicious antipasti including salami, prosciutto, cheeses, pickles, etc. Of course we had to try a frico, the fried cheese specialty of the region. With all of this we drank a bottle of Luisa Cabernet Franc blend.

I tried the restaurant's special dish - an orzotto which was barley cooked in the style of risotto with porcini mushrooms.

Then we had gulash, pumpkin ravioli, and roasted suckling pig. With this we drank a rich Livon merlot.

We finished with 10-year old grappa and biscotti and dark chocolate which was followed by a complementary second round.

The final bill was 140 euro, but that was only after we pointed out that they failed to charge us for the 27 euro second bottle of wine. That was because the owner's wife had overseen that and not our waiter.

They were so pleased that they gave us a small complementary bottle of the grappa that we had enjoyed.

This was one of the highlight meals of our whole trip and certainly in Friuli.
