I stayed at an agriturismo nearby and dined here two evenings. I found the meals and wine to be outstanding.

I suggest the stewed cabernet peppercorn beef as an entre'. I had a salad of thinly sliced goose breast with arugula and cheese drizzled with truffle infused oil. I tried both the stewed artichoke and stewed fennel sides. A wonderful experience.

This is a nice restaurant and one that local people patronize. We expected it to be very good but were disappointed. Additionally, the service was very poor.

Directions: On the Chiantigiani (222) past Strada in Chianti going towards Firenze.

We were here on a crowded Sunday afternoon which may explain our experience but that fact doesn't excuse bad service. We were virtually ignored. Eventually we had to attract the eye of a busboy to ask him to get someone to take our order. Even then it took a while for someone to come.

Food was exceptionally, unacceptably slow in arriving and between courses - slow in Italian time. When we had completed the secondi and the table was cleared by the busboy, we sat for 10 minutes waiting for a dessert menu and to order coffee. Eventually, I went to the bagno and on the way asked for "il conto". After a very long wait,(more than the normal long wait), we went to the reception desk and asked for the bill and paid there.

The food was a cut above average but not memorable. I did have a very good warm antipasto of pecorino, honey and sliced pear. The risotto was OK. Ken's stewed beef with peppercorns was good. However, they neglected to bring his spinaci until he asked for it.

We may give this restaurant another try to see if this was just a bad day. It is very attractive and appears that it should be better than our experience indicated.
