We went to Il Pozzo after reading the description in Beth Elon's book "A Culinary Traveler in Tuscany." We were not disappointed. I still think about those meals and want to return. On both of our visits, we appeared to be the only non-Italians in the room. Our second meal was on a lively Friday evening in mid-October. We watched as the chef alternated between eating and drinking with his friends (at a table near the open kitchen) and preparing great food in his wood-fired oven. My husband had a thick steak, which he proclaimed one of the best he had ever tasted. We drank the house wine, which was fine, and tried a house specialty for dessert - "la torta squisita." And it was exquisite. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
