Passo di Treia: Il Vecchio Granaio

Phone: 0335.611.5111

Reviewed by: Bill Thayer from IL, review #851

When: 2004

Home cooking, just not very good; possibly assisted by canned goods, and certainly way too much salt. Reasonable.

Directions: localit` Chiaravalle, 49 (SS 361 km 40,500)

Ihad two primi, two contorni, and to quote my diary, basta. Tagliatelle in rosso,B-; risotto aifunghi,C- (commercial-tasting and far too salty). Broccoli, with a fair amount of hot red pepper, peculiar but not bad,B; greens (of the kind old ladies go picking along highways),C- there too, (although they can get an A+ from me when good). House red, a glass: said to be local. Limoncello. 23.

In case you've seen glowing reviews elsewhere, check the date. The Vecchio Granaio is an agriturismo, and was recently sold: locally, it is said to have been very good before the sale; and afterwards, not.
