Marettimo: Il Veliero

Via Umberto 22 , Phone: 0923.923274

Closing day: None

Reviewed by: Robert Rainey from USA, review #2675

When: 2007

Good food on the water, not the best but very good.

Directions: From the ferry dock hug the water to your right. The restaurant will be on the water about 500 meters from the dock.

Wine: Grillo Parlante, Sicilia IGT Monte Antico It was recommended by the waiter but was a little too green and tannic; grillo should be softer.

Peg ordered: Busciate Siciliana - Eggplant, Tomato, Olives, capers. Very good, a little spicy for gringos?

Mixed salad - the standard Italian prep with tomato, lettuce and oil and vinegar.

Robert ordered: Buciate Marinara - the name is confusing. Marinara in the sense of ocean ... a seafood mixture of whatever is fresh that day, with a hint of tomato. Excellent.

Pesce spada (swordfish) Arrosto - Fish in any restaurant here should only be served when fresh as it was here. Very good.

About 50 euros in total.
