Relaxing, friendly and homey with very tasty dishes

We stumbled into Il Vescovada road-weary, with aching muscles and in need of a nice, relaxing meal. We were given just that. A bottle of house wine was brought to the table before we even asked (bottled for the restaurant, but cost only about €4), along with the menus. We were asked if we’d like to start with an antipasto or the primi; we opted for the primi, and the menus were whisked away and we were left to relax. After we’d finished the pastas, the menus were duly returned to us, and we were asked if we’d like secondi and verdure. We were told the lamb scottaditto was very good that day, so Bryan ordered it, and I ordered the veal. The waiter returned distraught that they had served the last of the veal, but recommended a grilled dish, which turned out to be a bit of a mixed grill on skewers, very tasty. Peppery greens with fruity olive oil and roasted peppers were the day’s veggie offering. Too full for dessert, we had a digestive and strolled around lovely Sutri before turning in at our hotel for the night.
