Very popular osteria near the stazione centrale specializing in goose cured meats, and dishes from the Friuli

This is one of the few interesting restaurants near Milan's central train station. The first time we tried this restaurant we were turned away on a week night in late October. So we made a reservation for Sunday dinner on All Saint's Day. They weren't just rejecting tourists, as we were recognized as we arrived without introduction and warmly seated immediately.

Antipasti are mostly plates of cured meats, especially goose. We began by sharing a plate of three goose preparations.

We followed this with a delicious plate of blue cheese, pears and honey for Jane, and I had pasta of bigoli (made from whole wheat) and anchovy.

I went on to a secondo of coniglio (rabbit) umido on polenta.

We we finished by sharing a dessert of pistachio gelato with peppercorns and bits of chocolate.

With a carafe of red wine and coffee and grappa, we paid 73 euros.

This is a very popular restaurant - both with locals and people who know. One pair of diners were two men with luggage, either arriving or departing Milan. Reservations even in low season are strongly advised.
