Directions: in the old part of Saluzzo
This is two restaurants in one--a formal place upstairs, and an inexpensive osteria on the main floor. We ate a simple lunch in the osteria. We began with sharing the mixed antipasti. Unlike some of the other mixed antipasti we've had in Piemonte, this was a modest amount of food. A plate with a delicious layered potato gratin, a few slices of a good rabbit pate, and a rather dull cheese torta with tomato sauce. We went on to share a mixed plate of excellent salumi; and then a cheese plate of good local cheeses, from sweet and fresh to knock-your-socks-off pungent. Also on the osteria menu are a few pastas and meat secondi. Two glasses of local wine, water and coffee brought the bill to €34. The upstairs restaurant has more involved dishes, higher prices, and a pretty setting. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
