Cefalu: La Botte

Small and charming restaurant with good service.

Shannon and I had dinner at this small trattoria our first night in Cefalù. It's just a few steps down the street from the Hotel La Giara where we stayed.

Shannon was very excited to see "Duca Enrico" Sicilian wine on the wine list, and at only €40! We ordered a bottle - after making sure it was THE Duca Enrico. ("Posso vedere la bottiglia?") Our server decanted it for us at the table; it was delicious and made the dinner special.

We started with the antipasti rustica Siciliani - it was okay; not memorable ... but I do remember that the olives were *not* good. (I love olives so was particularly disappointed!) We ordered vongole veraci to share as our primo; I liked it a lot but Shannon was unhappy when she got clam shells in her portion. For a secondo, I had a nicely mixed salad, and Shannon had veal marsala ... with french fries to share. :) Reasonable, about €15/person for meal + €40 for the wine.

La Botte was a good place for dinner, but not a stand out. I'd eat here again, but if you only have time for one meal in Cefalù, I recommend La Brace instead. (See my review on SlowTrav.)
