It was a great place to have lunch!

La Crocina, a restaurant at an agriturismo halfway between Sant' Antimo and Montalcino, was recommended to us by the owner of Uccelliera winery.

The man who runs the restaurant was very friendly. I practiced my Italian with him, and he practiced his English with us. We ordered bruschetta with tomato, Brunello risotto, and steak with a half-liter of house wine. There was far more risotto than I could possibly eat. The owner was delighted to wrap it up for me!

The espresso was especially delicious, it was so good and thick, and tasted like it had chocolate in it. He assured me that my macchiato was only coffee with a little warm milk. Yum, very satisfying.

Good food, terrific service, and a very satisfying meal.

Excellent Tuscan food at a reasonable price.

Directions: About 3 km south of Montalcino on the road to Sant' Antimo.

I have eaten at La Crocina many times and never have been disappointed. Luca is the waiter and his English is excellent ... but the food is even better. The risotto in brunello, fried artichokes and fresh seafood were oustanding. The bill for four of us (four courses) with a nice bottle of wine was 100 euros.
