Asciano: La Mencia

Corso Matteotti 85

Nice atmosphere, nice food, nice service at a nice price

On the main street in Asciano, Corso Matteotti, just down the street from Torre della Mencia, this pretty former olive press boasts white tablecloths and an upscale feel (but is moderately priced). They operate a rosticceria for take out items next door. The ristorante/pizzeria serves lunch and dinner, but pizza is available only in the evenings. We dined for lunch once (tagliatelle with cinghiale was great!) and once for dinner (pizza). The evening we arrived the place was nearly full with a large party celebrating a birthday. Lunch was more subdued and less crowded. Both meals were very enjoyable and delicious, the service was friendly and atmosphere was nice
