Yes, yes, this restaurant exists :-). And the food is more than worth it.

We went there a long time ago (1995), and then again in July 2000. Beautiful terrace with a view, gorgeous simple food (one of us had an awesome carpaccio), cheap. I'll go back!

When: 1996

The mystery restaurant. We went there once and the food was incredible. We returned several times - but it was always closed.

This is the mystery restaurant. Does it really exist or did we dream it? On a Saturday in September 1996, we were driving from looking at a vacation rental in western Tuscany to our booked vacation rental in Cortona, when we stopped in Radicondoli for lunch (a very small town with two restaurants). We wandered into La Pergola, which was packed. Since they were so busy and we were in a rush, we only ordered one course each and the food was incredible. The best we had on that trip.

We decided to come back again. On the next trip in 1997, we drove out to Radicondoli only to find the restaurant closed. It was Wednesday and their sign said this was their normal closing day. I had written down from the last visit that Tuesday was their closing day. So we ate at the other restaurant.

On the next trip in 1999, we specifically drove out to Radicondoli on a Saturday, and the restaurant was closed, but with no sign. I am willing to try it again on another trip, maybe even get Steve to phone. He says we should give up and the food probably wasn't as good as we remembered. I say we try again!!
