Everything about this restaurant is lovely. The food is very good and we tried most of the menu! The pastas were the best we had (wild boar and arrabbiata excellent), pizzas excellent and the quality and cooking of the meats superb. Particularly recommend the guinea fowl but we also had a variety of steak and veal dishes equally good. The panacotta is to die for! The staff were extremely friendly and always made us feel special even arranging to find us more supplies of our favourite wine from another restaurant when we had depleted their existing supply and on our last night cooking us a surprise chocolate pizza!! Lovely terrace especially atmospheric in the evening but equally pleasant inside. Frequented by locals and prices much more reasonable than the umbria - which I would strongly advise to avoid at all costs. Reviewed by: jgk from FL, review #965 When: 2004
Directions: Walking down hill on via Ciufelli, away from the Jacopone statue, it's one long block down, on the right. We ate at this great little place twice. We absolutely loved the setting and the food. The view from the terrace is not as panoramic as the Umbria's but every bit as beautiful. I loved the vegetarian antipasto with several small tastes. My son had the cingale cacciatore and loved it. Also ate the trout with roasted potatoes--a great meal after a bit of pasta burnout. Husband had pasta with shrimp which were very large, fresh and in the shells. The waiter treated us to limoncello after the meal. Second time we shared a veggie pizza which was so pretty we took a picture. Also had to try their strognozzi tartufo which was good. I would certainly recommend La Scaletta over the Umbria, and not only because of price. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
