Wonderful regional dishes, specializing in seafood though other choices are available. Seating is by reservation only. A little hard to find, but worth it!

Directions: Monte di Procida is a small town at the far edge of the Campi Flegrei near Naples. This restaurant is on the right (near the Farmacia), close to the edge of town when arriving from Torregaveta.

This is a small restaurant in a small town. Seating is by reservation only - everything is prepared fresh on the premises based on how many customers are expected, so they usually won't seat walk-up customers even if space is available (since food might not be). There's no menu that I've been able to see, so you eat whatever is available that day.

We usually begin with an assortment of antipasti (you can choose seafood or non-seafood selections, but aside from that decision you get what they have). There's usually a selection of as many as a dozen different dishes. Cozze (mussels) are always a good bet and there's likely to be a nice selection of various other fish and shellfish. For primi, there will be a couple of pasta choices and maybe a risotto, again there will be seafood and non-seafood choice, but probably only one or two of each. We had a very good pasta with cozze and zucchini on our last visit. Secondi are mostly grilled, as is very typical of this area, and may include fish, shrimp, steaks, or sausages. Desserts are homemade and very good. On our last visit the Tiramisu was excellent.

Prices are a little high by local standards, but that's mostly because of the seafood which is always pricey here. With several bottles of house wine and water, I think we paid around €180 for four on this visit, but that included four plates of huge grilled shrimp which probably accounted for half of that. Service is very friendly and is provided by the proprietress and chef, with some help from her husband and son. A great place to try our local specialties.
