Montefioralli: Le Castellana

Via de Montefioralli 1 , Phone: 055.853134

Reviewed by: SL Jones from IL, review #2784

When: 2007

A small atmospheric restaurant in a hamlet above Greve in Chianti. Good food and service.

Directions: From Greve in Chianti, follow signs to the hamlet of Montefioralli. Follow a small road up - as you enter this hamlet you will see the restaurant on your left.

This was a lovely spot above Greve, up a small road. The restaurant is small, with stone walls and interesting artifacts on the walls. It felt old and atmospheric. Steve had a gnocchi ragu and I had a tortellini with gorgonzola sauce. We both had crisp fresh salads. We shared great bruschetta with tomatoes. It was all very good.

Mostly I remember the coziness of the place on a cold gray day,the friendly service, and a very fine bottle of Chianti. I noticed that they had outdoor tables across the road, overlooking vineyards, but the weather called for an indoor experience. We would definitely go back there.
