Nice atmosphere of stone interior with vaulted ceilings. The service was very good throughout the meal. My husband and I started with crostini with wild boar and bruschetta con pomodoro. We had a bottle of 2001 La Fortuna Brunello. We both had onion soup for the next course followed by wild boar for a second course with a salad. For dessert we both had pear with chocolate and cream which was done very nicely. All the food was quite good and the total bill (with water as well) came to 110 euro. We probably would have eaten here again if it hadn't been our last night since there were dishes we saw at other tables that looked quite good. We walked past Les Barriques every day since we arrived in Montalcino and they always had the most wonderful display of fresh pasta in the window, so we decided to give it a try. We started with antipasti of crostini with mixed toppings, mushroom, daino (deer), cinghiale and cheese and truffle. Not bad. I had ribollita, which was delicious and Chris had the fresh parpadelle in an herb sauce, also very good. I didn’t feel tempted by any of the secondi listed (I also didn't feel like paying the same prices as I had at Boccon di Vino for something not as interesting) so I enjoy some acighe sotto pesto and a house salad (nice with arugula, pecorino and walnuts) instead. Chris got cinghiale. With a bottle of rosso and some water I believe the bill came to 73€, which I believe to be a bit too expensive for the food we ordered but still good tasting and good service. Well not too expensive for the quantity of food we ordered, I guess it’s just the quality and ambience does not compare to Boccon Del Vino or even Grappoloblu (which would be less) so I resent paying the same prices for secondi but everything else is good. If Grappoloblu wasn't a few feet away and Boccon di Vino a five minute drive away, this place would get a single star (if you're there go) but these two other restaurants I believe offer a better option.
