A top quality, expensive, restaurant out in the countryside. Recommended in the Carla Capalbo book.

David also wrote about Il Falconiere, just outside of Cortona in San Martino, and in this review he compares Locanda dell'Amorosa to Il Falconiere (both expensive and well known restaurants).

This restaurant is also part of a hotel. Equally as expensive as Il Falconiere, I personally preferred L'Amorosa -- mostly because I felt that I could relax easier. The food was equally upscale and creative and fabulous. Actually I did like the cooking even better here than at Il Falconiere but to be fair, they were both outstanding. We sat outside here as well -- no bugs this time! Just great food and wonderful service (I liked the service here better than at Il Falconiere, too). If you visit in the winter or at another cool time of the year, the interior of the restaurant is quite lovely -- really feels like an old inn with vaulted ceilings, etc. But if you go, make sure you're ready to spend some money. In my opinion, it's well worth the splurge.
