Nice osteria, excellent food, very good service.

This osteria has two rooms - the front room with the bottles of wine lining one wall is open all day. My friend Nancy likes to go there in the late afternoon and enjoy a glass or two of wine, the jazz music and quiet ambience. The second room seems to be reserved for dinner, and is more formally decorated. Service was excellent - our waiter was helpful with the menu and brought our dishes in a timely manner.

While Nancy and I were perusing the menu, we were served complimentary glasses of prosecco. We ordered aqua minerale and wine, and then I just couldn't resist a first course of creamy soft polenta with gorgonzola sauce. It was sooo rich, and I ate every little bit! Nancy had a deliciously smooth zuppa verdure. As my secondi, I had pappardelle pasta with hearty chunks of roasted cinghiale. As a sop to my conscience (and stomach) I *did* then eat a beautifully fresh mixed salad ... Nancy's veal chop was grilled with a topping of minced artichokes tossed in cream, and her quartered grilled potatoes had a good texture and flavor. No dessert tonight, but we enjoyed a bottle of the nice and dry house red wine with dinner. Total for this Tuscan feast was €85.
