We really enjoyed a long Sunday lunch here. The owners are charming, the food is excellent, prices are gentle, and there's a terrace with a million dollar view.

Directions: In the hilltop village of Calosso, which is between Costigliole d'Asti and Santo Stefano Belbo.

This restaurant and enoteca is in the hilltop village of Colosso, which has breathtaking views, hairpin curves in the road up, and a charming castello. The place is very popular for Sunday lunch, so you may want to book ahead. In good weather, you can sit on the shaded patio overlooking hills and vines.

There's a tasting menu, or you can order individual dishes. We had an excellent vitello tonnato and a great plate of robiola cheese with a zippy green sauce for our antipasti. Next, we split an order of homemade ravioli al plin in sage butter. For secondo, we split an order of stinco, (an oven-roasted shank), and roasted potatoes. Desserts were outstanding--a peach baked with cocoa and amaretti, and a light hazlenut torta. All this, a half bottle of wine, water and cofee for €39. The million-dollar view from the patio is free. Highly recommended.
