Directions: Chiaia area, about one block SE of Piazza Amadea, down the hill on Via Giovanni Bausan to Via Santa Teresa a Chiaia. Look for #47. We had a late lunch here in October, shortly after arrival in Naples and booking into the Pinto Storey. It was almost full at 2:45pm with locals. Rustic decor with wood-paneled walls, checked tablecloths and racks of wine in the front room. Mr. Tonino bustled around greeting customers and taking orders, while his wife ran the kitchen and a son served. No English spoken, so we puzzled our way through the hand-written menu. Bread, sparkling water, the house red and some penne pasta were sufficiently filling for the 3 of us (only €15), but Mr. Tonino tried to tempt us into another course by bringing trays of the various luncheon items to the table. We returned a couple of nights later, early enough to get a table without a reservation; it was full by 9pm with a lively Saturday night crowd of mostly locals. Three of us shared an antipasti plate and I had a tasty tortellini con fagioli primi and a carne a ragu secondi. The others both enjoyed seafood dishes, and we split a bottle of 2003 Mastrobernardi Greco di Tufo. Some apple pie topped off a delightful evening. Would definitely return!
