Directions: From Piazza Grande, walk down via dei Consoli to the bottom at turn left. If parking at the Teatro Romano, it's shortly to the left of where you cross the walls going up a ramp.
This restaurant had been recommended by a shopkeeper up the street as a nice, not overly expensive, place. For lunch on a day trip, it was nice to order the Piattone del Re, a big dish prepared for the number of people at €13 per person. It included a bean dish, several bruschette, prosciutto e melone, light-fried potatoes, sweet potato polenta, rosemary fluffy scrambled eggs with red pepper, and the local specialty of brustengo, doughy fried bread. There was also a smaller, cheaper assortment available. It was crowded at lunch, unlike most places on this trip. They have a wine list and local wine by the glass.
