Directions: From Montevarchi, go south toward Mercatale Valdarno: Rendola is signposted from there. It's in a rural setting overlooking olive groves and vineyards with a dining room that was once carpentry and blacksmith shops. The room has wood beams, brick and stone walls and a large open fireplace. The chef opened up Beccofino in Florence. The menu consisted of traditional Tuscan dishes but presented in creative ways. I started with an assortment of sauteed mushrooms on arugala and mache sprinkled with parmesean shavings and caviar. My husband and I then shared an order of tagliatelle with a truffle sauce and on to the best grilled steak served with loads of lemon. We did not have room for dessert!
