Ultra modern food - too trendy & pricey.
Directions: Exit Casello di Modena Nord, towards the centro.
La Francescana in Modena: Not recommended. I really did not like this place. Aside from being rather stuffy and hovering as far as service is concerned, the wine prices were almost as bad as in the US. Then to really push me over the edge we had ordered a parmesan cheese appetizer that was supposed to highlight cheese of various ages. What we got was a dollop of flavorless whipped foam (like a fluffy shaving cream) that was 12 month old cheese, a small scoop of a ricotta-like consistency cheese that was 18 months old, a dribble (really! About 5 to 10 ml) of cheese sauce around the edge that was 24 months old and a single cheese chip (the size of a single potato chip) that was 26+ months old. None of this had much flavor and they charged us about $18 for this. That really peeved me, although I must admit that the tagliatelle with meat sauce was very good. However, I would not recommend this place.
