Two excellent meals in a central location between the Campo and the Baptistry. It does fill up early, though, so book ahead.

We had two very nice meals here, once for Sunday lunch and again a few days later for dinner. It's a very central location and is therefore full of tourists, but the menu is a little different and everything we tried was good.

Our first visit was for lunch on a rainy Sunday in September. We had no reservation but were a little early and were fortunately able to get a table. Shortly after we were seated, all tables were full and people were being turned away. We started with a torte of potato and porcini and another of cabbage and sausage which were both very nice and not something you see on every menu. I then had tagliatelle with black truffles and Kim had tagliatelle with fresh tuna and tomato. For dessert we shared something called "Cioccolato in paradiso" which was a dark chocolate cake with melted white chocolate sauce and was as good as it sounds.

We had house wine, water, and coffee and the bill was under €60. A complimentary glass of grappa came with the bill, which is always a nice touch.

A few days later we returned for dinner, this time with a reservation. Again they filled up quickly. This time we shared the "Fagottini di sfoglia", little pastry pouches filled with sausage and pecorino - again not something we found on a lot of Tuscan menus. Next Kim had crespelle with zucchini and pecorino while I had gnocchi with tomato and ricotta salata. For secondi, I had tagliata (slices of grilled beef) with garlic and peperoncini which was outstanding, while she had the roasted veal. We had a very nice bottle of a 2003 Fontodi Chianti Classico with our meal. For dessert, I had cantucci with vin santo and Kim had the dark and white chocolate mousse. With water and coffee, dinner was just over €75.
