Directions: Just off the Piazza della Signoria This was another favorite - we had lunch here twice together and my wife also had a solo lunch here. It's a tiny place, no more than about 6 tables, just off the Piazza della Signoria and was just a block from our apartment. The quarters are very tight and tables were sometimes shared. The menu was short and hand-written, and changed daily. The choices here are simple Tuscan food – soups, roasted meats, antipasti - and everything we ordered was very good. The soups were especially good. Desserts were also very good and homemade; the addition of the raspberries to the tiramisu was a nice touch. On our first visit, we shared a plate of mixed crostini and then I had pappa al pomodoro and my wife had passato di fagioli e farro. We finished with torta della nonna and the tiramisu with raspberries. With wine and water, lunch was just over €30. On our second visit, about a week later, the owner and waiter both recognized us and were very friendly. We started with a mixed antipasto. Then my wife had the pappa al pomodoro and I had the ribollita. Again, both soups were excellent. Without dessert this time, lunch was €27. On my wife's solo visit, she finally tried a meat course, the arista di maiale which she also enjoyed very much. Highly recommended for good, hearty fare at a very reasonable price. Directions: Near Piazza Signoria I started with a salad of shredded lettuce, a generous portion of fresh porcini mushrooms, fresh shaved Parmesean with olive oil and perhaps a little vinegar. Pasta Papadelle al Caniglio (rabbit) very rich and satisfing. A huge plate of crostini which I was instructed to take as many as I liked (try 12 or more for me). Liver, anchovies, artichoke, tomatoes, etc. With a beer this was 28 euros and for most couples enough food; even adding another pasta the price is very reasonable.
