Directions: Near Campo San Barnaba. Ca' Rezzonico or S. Samuele vaporetto stop. It was only after we had our first meal at Osteria Vini Padovani that I realised that this was the place Dale from SC had recommended. Had delicious baccala prepared 3 different ways, served with polenta. Pastas are made to order, and brought over from the kitchen across the street. The gamberi with zucchini over spaghetti was delicate and fresh tasting. The premade dishes like lasagne and casseroles are reheated in the microwave above the bar. From my time waitressing I can tell you this is done at many restaurants - at least here it is done without pretense! A woman customer there whose mother owns a restaurant told me their ragu can only be topped by her mother's. The two guys who run the place are delightful, and the only English they speak is "O.K." Works for me. Reviewed by: Dale from SC, review #329 When: 2001
Directions: Starting at Campo S. Barnaba in Dorsoduro, walk under the Casin di Nobili arch. Pass the Casin di Nobili restaurant, walk up the steps, then turn left (where the Rio is being repaired). Make a left down a teeny street, then follow right onto Calle de Cerchieri. The restaurant seats about fifteen. The "kitchen" is so minute that if you order pasta, the lady across the calle brings it over. Great fun and you will be the only non-Venetian in the house.
