I'd never return to this restaurant: terribly slow service, rude wait staff, missed food and missed champagne with no effort to make it right. They're the worst we've ever encountered in Italy. The food €18 at the cheapest tourist menu -- nothing really extremely tasty, came out so slowly from the kitchen that our party of 6 couldn't even really eat together. Salads without oil and vinegar, and a brusque comment when we finally pried it out of the waitress, one entree mixup with no effort made to be flexible -- ugh! Our reservation was for 7:30 -- didn't head back to our hotel until going on 11. Some places you'd want to stay that long. We couldn't wait to leave this one! Take my advice -- pass it by! Directions: Just off the main square, near the entrance to the city hall. Can see the sign from the passageway. We had a lovely dinner here for 6 for €106. This included 3 or 4 appetizers, 5 pastas, 3 meat dishes, wine and water bottles. I had a lovely panzanella salad (special) and my husband had a delicious bowl of bean soup. The kids both had veal cutlets, my husband and I shared a veal special. Everything was very good. I would recommend reservations unless you get there early. The restaurant filled up quickly. Service was very friendly. Reviewed by: jgk from FL, review #956 When: 2004
Trattoria Pallotta is listed in the Eye Witness guidebook and in Osterie d'Italia with good reason. The food was very good and the quiet calm atmosphere is a welcome respite from the intensity of sensory stimulation in Assisi. We tried the house special strognozzi with black olive pesto and the tartufo as well--preferred the tartufo, but who wouldn't? My daughter had beautiful homemade ravioli with a light tomato sauce and my son had lasagna which he said was a bit too rich for him. We loved our lunch here overall and would go back. Directions: Just off the main piazza, by the soccer jersey shop This place came recommended out of The Rough Guide so we thought we'd give it a try. It seems to be a favorite as it did fill up rather quickly once the doors opened at 12:30 for lunch, but I really didn't think that it was anything to scream about at all. Don't get me wrong, while everything was fine it just that - nothing more. Service was good and it did have a good vibe, though. Lunch for 4 with wine 60 Euro.
