Great way to start a Venetian holiday!

Directions: Situated right at the foot of the Accademia Bridge, right around the corner from the Accademia Museum.

This was our first dinner in Venice and for a family of weary eyed travelers this was the perfect retreat in many ways. Namely it was just around the corner from Pensione Accademia where we were staying and it also came highly recommended by the authors of the book "Chow! Venice". Well, we were not disappointed in the least, it is in a perfect postion for watching all the comings and goings in the area, whether it be over the Accademia Bridge, or on the Grand Canal itself.

I made the plunge after doing the Atkins thing for the last 3 months and had my first pizza - everyone's was superb! Of course the bottle of Prosecco helped to wash it all down as well. 70 euros for dinner for 4, including a bottle of prosecco.

On a comical note, being somewhat bleary eyed and stupid, I asked the gondolier who was standing in front of me for a table for 4 when we arrived, he smiled and told me that he was indeed not a WAITER, but a Gondolier! From that moment on, I always made sure that whenever I asked any man a question he didn't wear stripes!
