Not your typical "Italian" place. Fun, hip, wine bar with great food. We had a great meal there starting with a mountain of meat and great wine. E70 for 4

One of the reception guys at Palazzo Guiderocchi suggested we try this new place. We arrived pretty early and are soon served with a delicious sparkling, pink wine--perfect for the summer evening. Then, without yet ordering anything, we are presented with "the mountain of meat". It's a cutting board, about 10" by 14", loaded with various cured meats and susages. One of the sausages was raw and we didn't taste it. The rest were very good.

Then we had to order from a verbal menu. It seemed we were to all get the same thing so I chose penne carbonara with asparagus. It was quite delicious but the presentation was really unique. On a large plate there were stacked 2 short, clear, thick glasses, both filled with the pasta mix and topped with a little handful of fried tagliatelli. On the side were a few more tasty, fresh asparagus. We drank a lovely light red Rosso Piceno which we really enjoyed. We shared 2 desserts which I only wrote in my notes "were OK".

I would really recommend this place if you are a meat lover, wine lover or just plain adventurous, and especially if you want something just a little bit different from just about everywere else in Ascoli Piceno.
