WOW - this place is great! Purity of flavor, focused and balanced. Bravo!

Directions: In Barbaresco centro just down from the regional enoteca.

Antine in Barbaresco, Very Highly Recommended ***** WOW!!! Modern country décor and very comfortable inside. Nice wine list, but we were on a break from wine tasting because we were at the 1st annual Barbaresco wine festival and we had only tasted half of the offerings so far. We both had the piccolo menu. Started with a small round of chicken breast with a little truffle, then a lardo wrapped baccala with basil which was excellent. Pasta was macaroni with a rich wild boar sauce that was very good. The main course was a large crispy fried duck leg with roasted sweet red onion compote, carrots and potatoes. Man this was truly great! Finished with bonet amd some sort of tropical tasting sorbet for dessert. The balance and focus of the flavors here show Antine to be a cut above most of the other excellent restaurants in the piemonte area, which is really saying something. Since Il Vicoletto in Alba is now closed this is my vote (so far!) for the best place near Alba.
