Great view. Pretty good food.

I went by myself for a late dinner on my first night in Venice. I had Antipasti “Gianni” (prosciutto, salami, ham, olives, and pickled veggies), polenta con porcini (slices of grilled polenta topped with lots of sauteed porcini mushrooms), ˝ bottle of house red wine.

Pretty good, but very expensive (50 euros–for one!). You pay for the view. The service was better than I expected it to be and my fellow diners seemed to be enjoying their meals. I'd go again.

Can't beat the gorgeous location, right on the Giudecca canal. Food very good, if not terribly sophisticated. Wonderful service and did I say the VIEW!

We had great pizza and salad for lunch here one day and went back for a really nice dinner.

The tortellini/ravioli in a simple cream sauce was wonderful. Same with the traditional spaghetti with clams - fresh tasting with garlic and parsley. The breeze blowing around you and the beautiful setting makes the food taste even better. And it's right near Gelateria Nico for gelato after.

Gorgeous view for a summer day. We ate better in many places for this kind of money, but the gorgeous view and watching Venice life go by made it all worthwhile.

Walking along the Zaterre on a hot day and looking for a shady place where we could enjoy both the view and a good lunch, we settled on Gianni's, because we could get a table at the water edge and with an unchallenged view.

We had a decent enough meal; my seppia col nero alla veneziana (con polenta) in particular, although I have had even better. With Josette's vegetarian pizza, 1/2 bottle of wine, water, coffees and cover charge, we paid €48 for two, service and tip included.

We ate better in many places for this kind of money, but the gorgeous view and the leisure taken watching Venice life go by made it all worthwhile. It was Sunday and people from the neighbourhood were out for a stroll, dogs everywhere, even on Gianni's patio, which is as it should be by our reckoning.

By 1:30 p.m. the Gianni patio became packed and the service got sloppy. It was time to leave.
