Great seafood in nice surroundings

Directions: In the upper town of Vasto; up the hill from Vasto Marina

We happened upon this pleasant restaurant as we were exploring the city of Vasto a Tuesday morning/early afternoon. The sign out front said "Specialita Pesce", and that's just what were in the mood for.

We were greated by the owner/manager who seated us in a small dining area next to the larger one that was full with what appeared to be locals. I had read that the speciality of Vasto was Brodetto, and the owner confirmed this and bragged that his was the finest in Vasto. Although tempted to order the Brodetto, it was such a hot day that we decided on the grilled mixed seafood with a salad instead. It turned out to be great choice.

We were served a heaping fish plate of grilled calamari, octopus, shrimp, prawns, several types of fish, sweet and hot peppers.

This was all washed down with a fair Trebbiano D'Abruzzo. About €46 - and really too much for two people to eat. We loved the food and surroundings and would recommend this place if you go to Vasto....I need to go back to try the brodetto.
