Spoleto: Ristorante Il Camino

Excellent Umbrian restaurant and pizzeria.

Directions: About 15 or 20 minutes south of Spoleto on the main road between Terni and Spoleto.

We always have a good meal at Il Camino and usually come here 2 or 3 times each vacation. The menu is fairly basic as far as Umbrian food goes but always very good. One of my favorite starters is a plate of arugula, freshly sliced mushrooms, shaved parmigiano reggiano and olive oil. I've never seen this in other restaurants and it is a nice fresh, light departure from a lot of the heavier options. Of course I follow this up with a big bowl of pasta or a pizza.

Typically the two of us eat for around 50 euros which includes a bottle of wine, water, and 2 antipasti, primi, secondi and cortoni each.

The owner, Domenico is always friendly and happy to see whoever comes in the door. We have never been to this, but I guess they are known for their big fish dinners (I think on Friday nights).
