This restaurant was recommended to us by the honeymooning couple we met on the train. They said they had two dinners here and enjoyed both food and atmosphere. We enjoyed it very much as well and had a large "lunch". We were supposed to head North for a "rehearsal" dinner with my friend, but because of the G8 Summit and the train problems, we didn't expect we would make it. There were two other tables there when we arrived, but one of these quickly left, and the other left before we got our primi - again we weren't rushed, though we know they were in a bit of a hurry to get to their siesta. They were great, and very friendly.

We got a bottle of Cesari 2000 Pinot Grigio Chardonay della Venezia, and water. An Antipasto of melon and proscutto followed - 4 large melon slices, many strips of proscutt and carrot slivers formed into a tower. We followed this with ricotta and spinach ravioli in a nut cream, and fisco (?), a handmade pasta in a light pesto. We were trying to avoid veal and beef because of mad cow, and I am not a fish or seafood person. This posed problems in several restaurants for me, and made me really wish I liked the stuff. So here I ordered a plate of grilled shrimp. Bill got scampi. He was thinking about scampi that you get in the States where little tiny shrimp are served in butter and garlic with lemon. Instead, both of us got these amazing plates of huge crustaceans with legs and antennae. I took pictures, and we enjoyed them even if we were a bit daunted. A bowl of lemon water accompanied to clean our hands (easier to use than the utensils provided said the waitress). We finished with coffee for a total bill of 140,000L.
