Il Pino was recommended to us by our host in San Gimignano to celebrate our anniversary. After reading some reviews on it we agreed to go. The setting is higher-end with white tablecloths. You are greeted at your table with a glass of sparkling white wine. The food is excellent and the service just as good. They do feature a lot of local dishes like wild boar and rabbit which are well prepared. The two of us had a bottle of the house wine, primi, secondi and dolce with coffee and the bill was about €90. Il Pino takes credit cards (MC/Visa) and reservations are recommended. We ate here twice during our 10 days in Tuscany and enjoyed both meals immensely. Il Pino is a classy restaurant with fine tablecloths and nice table settings. It’s a place where the locals eat. Our waitress suggested potato gnocchi with truffles in a cream sauce (€13). We shared this course and also ordered a mixed salad, two glasses of Rosso di Montepulciano, and a bottle of plain water. When we tried our food my wife and I looked at each other and smiled. This was too good to be true! We have never tasted anything that delicious. After lunch we enjoyed a tiramisu and two cappuccinos. The tab for this meal was €31. This was a bargain considering the quality of ingredients and delicious taste. This is one of those places where I would definitely drive the extra miles to track down.
