Directions: In the Borgo Po down a couple of blocks on a street leading from the left of the church of Gran Madre di Dio We had a wonderful lunch here. It was one of the two most elegant dining experiences we had on our visit. As usual we were one of the first to arrive but the room was full by the time we left. All tables began with a serving of delicious pancetta. We began by sharing a plate of mixed antipasti mostly meats with some of the most flavorful lardo we have tasted. We followed this with another shared pasta - agnolottini del plin. Jane sampled a dish of the local fonduta served with toast points. She chose not to try the shaving of truffle as a neighboring table did. I was adventurous again and ordered lumache (snails) over polenta. This turned out to be very tasty but also very rich. I couldn't finish the entire dish nor could another neighbor. The house white that we ordered turned out to be a bottle of 2007 Arneis from the Langhe. We shared a plate of the local specialty, Bonet. This turned out to be a very elegant version what was essentially a chocolate creme caramel. With that we also had glasses of a 2008 Moscato d'Asti. The waiter generously refilled the glasses a few times from the bottle left on the table while we paid the bill which came to 72 euro. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here.
