This restaurant was recommended by our agriturismo. We were one of two tables, making it slightly uncomfortable; the other table were locals. A TV was in the other room, which I wish they had turned off, or turned down. Nevertheless this new restaurant was nicely designed, and the waitress was patient with us. Because of the circumstances we had low expectations, but the food was really among our best meals of the trip. My husband and I both had an excellent pasta with the Trapanese noodle (very twisty and long) with pinenuts, breadcrumbs, etc. (called Antica Sapori ???); then we shared a salad and a pork shank. The salad came fully dressed and salted which I found refreshing, rather than the bottle of oil and vinegar, and the pork was absolutely unbelievable. We did not know we had ordered a shank, and were surprised. It was incredibly tender, the meat fell off the bone. It was covered by a vegetable sauce, probably fava bean or pea sauces. It was a very sophisticated rendition, and very delicious. The other amazing part of the meal was the house wine, which was 3 euros for a liter, but actually among the best house red wines of the trip. I asked, and it was a Nero d'Avola. The kids just had french fries, but they were delicious and covered in sea salt. We felt the value was great; everything was under 50 euros. I hope the August tourist season will keep them busy, as I would definitely go back again. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
