Many people seem to stay in Angera the night before they leave, and this is the place to have a really nice dinner before you leave from Malpensa.

Directions: A8 Milano - Laghi, exit Vergiate-Sesto Calende

We stayed in Angera for two nights because we were leaving from Malpensa and wanted to spend a day in Milan before we left. It's only 25-45 minutes from the airport, depending on traffic. Just around the corner from the Hotel dei Tigli where we stayed is Vecchia Angera; we ate there both nights. They have an outside garden area which is charming, the service is very good, and the food is, too. We had risotto with lake perch that were so sweet as a first course and very good grilled meat and fish for seconds. Highly recommended.
