Nice lunch overlooking Lake Trasimeno.

Directions: Take the n 599 from Magione heading towards Chiusi. Not too far out of town (3-5 km??) turn right and follow signs to San Feliciano. Turn right again when you see a yellow sign with a black fish on it. The restaurant is up the hill on the right in a nice residential area.

We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. We had driven by the sign on the main road previously and figured it pointed to be a little hole-in-the-wall but instead found ourselves in a nice dining room with damask tables overlooking a garden in bloom and the lake.

We were hoping to try their specialty, carpa regina (queen carp) which is carp done porchetta style but it was not on the menu that Good Friday. Instead, Ziggy and I had spectacular grilled perch, extremely fresh from the lake. The firm, white, meaty strips of mild fish were lightly dusted with bread crumbs, sprinkled with olive oil and grilled on wooden skewers over an open fire. Duane was really into going local and ordered grilled lake eel. It was nicely done over the open fire, crunchy on the outside and very tasty but somewhat chewy on the inside. Salad, fried potatoes, house wine, mineral water and coffee completed the meal for €51.

Most of our fellow diners appeared to be locals on lunch break from work and a few well dressed Italian families on holiday. Most of them were enjoying selections from the large menu of ocean items.
