We first visited this restaurant in '98 and loved it so we anticipated a great return experience - and were not disappointed!

Directions: On the "main street" of town

We had lunch here on successive days. Has a long menu of fresh local cuisine such as Porcini mushrooms, local fish from the lake, excellent antipasti including zucchini with parmesan. My wife had a excellent vegetable soup. Excellent preparations of fish as well as a very nice steak covered with Porcini mushrooms. I had a well prepared ravioli with asparagus as well as an excellent risotto with Porcini mushrooms.

Has a relatively small wine list but good selections of the main Piedmont styles. On our last lunch in Orta I brought in a '58 (my birth year) Giuseppe Muscalello from a local market. The wine was cloudy with alot of sediment. I stood it up for 24 hours and it was decanted for a few hours - the wine was a little past its peak but was rather good; I could even detect a little fruit nose left. It was an orange/brown/red color.

One of our favorite places. About €60-70 for two.
