Real Italian food !!!

We had the good fortune to have a meal in Roberto’s on the last night of a city break on 23/08/07.

My son Simon spotted the Trattoria on the way back from a walk from Ponte Vecchio.

The place is easily missed and the door sticks, so push!

It has a large cold cabinet in the window, with large amounts of T Bone steak on show and largest fresh Porcini mushrooms I have seen so far, on my Italian travelling experiences.

We entered the place about 8pm, not knowing what to expect. It was quiet but the family and various professional people including a Nurse and a Carabiniere Officer sat together at tables near the semi open kitchen enjoying each others company.

A young friendly waiter soon attended to us and spoke very good English which helped due to the Menu being (as it should be) predominantly in Italian.

I asked for the only wine I could recognise Pinot Grigio white, he suggest a Rose which was cheap at €12.

With help from the waiter we ordered and the cooking began, using freshly prepared ingredients. We waited a short time in which we then made a start on the wine.

The meal arrived and for the first time, for once, there was no cheese or ham involved in our dinner. Every mouthful tasted lovely.

Other customers arrived, but most checked the menu in the window and walked by (their loss)

Please try this lovely family run Real Italian experience or eat cheese the choice is yours!!

Well done Robert’s, but please fix that door.
