A lovely lunch in Urbino. Fine food, moderately priced.

Directions: Near Porta Santa Lucia

On a hot day in May 2005, we went to Taverna degli Artisti. Didn't get a good look at the indoor seating -- everyone was outside in a courtyard at the back. Actually, it's not the most atmospheric outdoor seating -- the courtyard is surrounded by other buildings including a school. The kids playing in the schoolyard didn't bother us, but... The food was terrific. Very large menu -- too much to choose from, IMO. However, Passatelli con funghi porcini. I didn't realize that you could get fresh porcini mushrooms in May. These were very fresh and delish (others I had during this trip were not - they were either canned or dried and reconstituted - nowhere near as good).Ravioli with porcini and walnuts - excellent. Nice scalloppini. Very good torta della nonna. 4 people: 1 antipasto, 4 primi, 2 secondi, 4 contorni, 2 dolci, water, wine, water, coffee - 92 Euro.
