Beautiful, light filled room. Food ranged from very good to merely adequate depending on the reviewer.

Directions: From Montalcino, head south (towards S. Antimo); left turn onto a white road (look for signs for Fattoria dei Barbi)

To be honest, we had lunch after a tour of the winery where they were VERY generous with the tastings so I don't know how clear any of our palates were by the time we got to eat. We did not choose from the menu - for our group of 15 they simply provided a set four course meal. As the only vegetarian in the group my meal was different - homemade spaghetti in a red sauce (very pedestrian) followed by mushy vegetables and a good cheese selection. I don't even remember dessert (for that matter I don't remember paying the bill but everyone tells me I did). This is the only restaurant on our trip that I can't wholeheartedly recommend but enough of us had a good time that I put it in the "plus" column anyway.

I totally agree with Zak’s "not recommended". Years ago, it was really a fun place with very good food, but no more.

This restaurant has been in all the guidebooks for years, but I had a very poor meal there and would not return.

Directions: 5 kms SE of Montalcino on the road to the Abbey of Sant'Antimo

The restaurant is on the grounds of the Fattoria dei Barbi, a Brunello wine-producer.
