Tables set up with green unlabeled bottles of red wine with little plastic caps, and prix fixe €15. I ate pretty well. Minestra di farro, the consistency of oatmeal with bits of ground beef, pancetta, and a stray juniper berry (B+); pork chop & sausage alla braccia (B); potatoes — I'd been told that potatoes are a Leonessa thing — with oil and rosemary, quite like any other potatoes (B). You're expected to end with fruit, but I asked for a dessert, was told "If we've got anything, I'll give it to you.", and what came was tozzetti con vin santo — the standard central Italian dessert, but unusually good, very crunchy, lots of almonds, and very good vin santo: all round, the dessert was an A. Oh and that wine in the green bottles was a Colli Amerini, quite adequate. Overall rating: B+ Value for money: A This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
